The working folder is over 100gb.ĭo you need a portable drive (something to take with you on travels)? Or would a desktop unit work? If the later is OK, then you might consider an HDD-based device like a RAID unit. I'm looking for an external SSD which can serve as the working drive for several video projects. I thought that all external SSDs were similar, but the throughput can be improved with a better interface cable.

The problem is that I'm out of space now but I'm not ready to upgrade the Macbook for several months. If you're going to be getting a new MacBook Pro - which will have USB-c 3.1 'gen2' (which is supposed to support transfers up to 10gbps) - you'll probably want a USB3.1 Gen2 drive.īut - not many (any?) actually -out- on the market yet.
